We have an established reputation for providing superior quality shows, rides, games, specialty foods and customer amenities which create the atmosphere of a traveling theme park. Mega Shot

In 2008 TJ Schmidt and company launched its inaugural season. Though the name was new and the equipment was upgraded, company founders Terry and Sandy (Arnold) Schmidt were not new to the carnival business in 2008! Both Terry and Sandy were second generation carnival owners who grew up in the industry. Terry with his siblings and their parents Sherman and Joy Schmidt of Schmidt Amusements and Sandy with her brothers and their parents Ivan and Agnes Arnold of Arnold Amusements.

Upon founding TJ Schmidt & Company, Terry and Sandy worked diligently to provide Michigan Fairs, Festivals and Events with a premier midway experience. Along with their sons, Josh and Kyle Schmidt and Business Manager Doug Burtch, the company quickly grew and solidified a stellar reputation in the carnival industry.

In 2011, tragedy struck when Terry was diagnosed with cancer. After a valiant battle with Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia and an additional diagnosis of Hodgkin Lymphoma in 2017, Terry succumbed to the dreadful disease in July of 2018.

With utmost dedication to carry on Terry’s legacy, the company continues to thrive. TJ Schmidt & Company is a single unit midway and an innovative company that offers over twenty rides, games, specialty foods and high class shows and customer amenities.

Our management team has a combined industry experience of over 30 years! Our team of trained professionals is always on site at your event and available to answer your questions 365 days a year!

President/Food Service Specialist Sandy Schmidt, Vice President/General Operations Manager Kyle Schmidt, Doug Burtch, Chief Operations Officer/Business Manager, Courtney Schmidt, Game Concessions/Media Director and Ellen Burtch, Food Concessions/Guest Relations all work both on site and behind the scenes to ensure every aspect of the carnival operation is running efficiently and smoothly so you don’t have to worry! It is our pleasure to serve you! Collectively the Schmidt and Burtch families strive to present a safe, clean and family oriented atmosphere at every TJ Schmidt & Company event.

Our Workforce

TJ Schmidt Management

The TJ Schmidt & Company workforce has a reputation for being family friendly, courteous, polite and helpful. All of our employees are required to report to work well groomed and in uniform. Employees are subject to random drug screening and follow a non-smoking policy while on the job. Many of our employees have worked with our company for many years which speaks to our family oriented style of conducting business. Our industry and in-house trained ride operators and food service providers follow State and National safety guidelines which helps give you peace of mind that your event will have a safe, family friendly atmosphere!
