Safety & Maintenance
T.J. Schmidt & Company has a first rate safety program in place that includes; Employee Training, Equipment Maintenance & Inspections and clearly posted and easy to understand guidelines for all of our customers.

Ride Maintenance/Inspections:

Daily inspections of all of our rides occur every day prior to opening. Rides are put through the paces and, where applicable, must meet or exceed state and manufacturer guidelines in more than fifty categories! Annual inspections of all of our equipment are conducted by certified ride inspectors from the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. In addition, third party non-destructive testing is conducted on several pieces of our equipment when applicable.

We have a top-notch in-house maintenance staff which works to keep our equipment running safely. In addition, staff members spend a part of each work week washing all of our equipment and making sure our rides and attractions are well lit. These efforts all combine to help make the T.J. Schmidt & Company Midway among the cleanest and brightest in the state!

Off Season Maintenance:

During the off season, we spend the months of November through the end of April refurbishing our equipment at our Michigan based winter quarters and repair facility.  In our shop, we are able to perform mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic repairs.

Employee Training:

Our staff members receive in-house training which aligns with state, national and manufacturer safety standards. Many of these safety standards are mandated by our insurance providers. We monitor our progress daily and safety and maintenance topics are discussed with employees both individually and at staff meetings. Several members of our maintenance team have logged hours of carnival related maintenance hours at their jobs prior to work for T.J. Schmidt & Company.

Food Operations:

T.J. Schmidt & Company proudly owns and operates superior quality food venues which supply thousands annually with all of their favorite speciality carnival fare! Our food operation complies with and most often exceeds all applicable state safety regulations pertaining to sanitation guidelines for transitory food units.
